Acts 1: 8 “But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”
Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, He assured His disciples that He would not leave them on their own. He promised to send another to help and be a teacher and comforter to them. Then came Pentecost! Peter, the one that previously denied even knowing Jesus, preached to a multitude who heard the message in their own language and more than three thousand were converted to and believed on the Lord Jesus. Without a doubt, the Disciples of Christ received something that changed their lives in that upper room!
This Jewish feast is so closely connected with the promised gift from Jesus that it brought forth an entire movement and denomination! But please understand that Pentecost is simply the timing of this manifested promise. This thing is a He and He is the third person of the Tri-unity or Trinity of the Godhead. This precious Holy Ghost provided the fire necessary to turn a denier into the soul winner he was promised to be when following Jesus; just like us! Remember that Jesus said, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4: 18-22).
So then Pentecostalism is associated with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost as well as following Jesus! One problem I see is that many see the ‘speaking in tongues’ as something to flaunt which He isn’t. The Holy Ghost always points us to Jesus and Jesus always points us to the Father. He (the Holy Ghost) does not come to us and fill us to become a spectacle but to become witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ. In all that we do and account to the movement of the Holy Ghost, please be sure to discern that His actions always lead us and others to a relationship or a deeping of the relationship with Christ. The Holy Ghost even gives us the power to apologize and make amends!
I love the Spirit of God and desire to provide myself as His servant! He loves us so much and affords us the supernatural love for those around us! The Holy Ghost does so much that we cannot even come to the cross of Calvary without Him making the nudge in our hearts! Love is the precursor of His Spirit!
