Hebrews 4: 12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Through the ages men have learned to have ‘poker faces’ and hide the intent of their hearts but God’s Word is ‘a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart;’ as Christ alone is the searcher of hearts and discerns the desire of man. This righteous judgment will be fully displayed at the last day when Jesus will make apparent the heart and will accurately judge them. Too often I have heard people say, “Only God can judge me.” Yet, sadly, they speak with no fear of that matter.
Nothing is as potent and powerful as the living Word of the living God! ‘Quick’ can be better understood as living. The Word of God is alive and working in the hearts of those exposed to it. Sharper than any two-edged sword; by which he pierces the hearts of men, cuts them to the quick, and lays them open.
Men have developed great and awesome weapons in and of this world, yet nothing can match the arsenal found in the Word of God. Nothing can be hidden or distorted or explained away as God knows and discerns the very heart of man. The Apostle Paul wanted to get this point made: that though the soul and spirit are not seen, invisible, and our joints and marrow are covered; so sharp and quick sighted, and so penetrating is God’s Word that it reaches the most secret and hidden things of man. Piercing even to the dividing asunder soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow.
There is a saying which says, ‘who you is who you is’ and its true. You cannot hide from the piercing of the Lords eyes which are folded within the pages of the Book of books. The only alternative is to surrender to the Lord fully without reservation. What you will find in return is peace and a joy not enjoyed in this world. Contentment is a hallmark of those living within Him. Come home to Jesus and find your peace today.
