Ministerial Magicians

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”

The Apostle Paul wanted Timothy to be aware of the time he was living in as well as the time to come. He was acutely aware also of the lack of love people would have for each other. The first verse of chapter 3 warns us of times of dangerous opportunity. The term used here is used a couple of other times in the New Testament with one referencing the demon-possessed man healed and delivered by Jesus. This man was wild and needed to be restrained before he met the Master. The other time the term is used refers to the raging sea.

When you look at the horizon nowadays, you get the feeling that you’ve seen this scene before. In fact, it is recorded in your Bible. The time of dangerous opportunity or perilous times are here. Think it not strange that the Apostle mingles the magicians Jannes and Jambres into this mix! These two magicians mimicked the miracles Moses did in the court of Pharaoh as was their antics to get followers even Pharaoh!

Yes, we still have magicians in the pulpits today! Posing and displaying a form of godliness but denying the power. These are the sort that go to school, receive their ministerial degree and begin to look for a position. Not that this is a terrible thing in itself but I can’t find this method of ‘positioning’ in the word of God! God calls and qualifies His people to do His will by His grace in their life.

God is well able to display His infinite power without antics or a ‘conjuring of His Spirit’! He is looking for those that will just say yes to Him. He is calling you to walk with Him again. Yes, these are treacherous times and people have become loves of themselves more than lovers of God without flinching! Their grand need for God exists only when they are in trouble. Their prayers consists of telling God what they want; doing all of the talking and none of the listening.

I am not here to try to please or appease you nor am I here to get you to like me. I am here to tell you about the One that loves you so much. He is beckoning you to walk with Him. Will you? People that are being drawn by His Spirit do not need to be coaxed to read the Word of pray to Him. They know their lives are out of whack and in need of alignment. They have felt His soft loving hand and heard His tender whisper in the midnight hour. They are appalled by those that masquerade as His own. They are watching for something real as they should. They have been cast away and uncared for by hirelings. Come out from among them and worship your God that is calling your name.

He will comfort you.
