Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
The Fruits of the Spirit refer to nine attributes that are produced in the lives of Christians through the work of the Holy Spirit. These qualities reflect a person’s character when they live in accordance with the Holy Spirit a stark contrast to the darkness of this world. My wife summed up the fruits of the Spirit as the personality of Jesus and I could not agree more!
These are the personality traits we derive from the Holy Spirit alone. They are forged through fire and trials so that they are impervious to defeat. These qualities also reflect the truest teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ; the Author and Finisher of our faith! This lesson is but one of a multitude of lessons we receive from the Lord as to how we are to live this life He alone has gifted us with. His teachings and the adherence thereof, provide the very foundations of our faith in action in this world.
It seems that there are many today that could use some ‘self-control’ doesn’t it? There is a price that must be paid in this wonderful exchange; it requires one to put off self and surrender fully to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! However, it is worth it! The surrender isn’t really a surrender at all it is more like fulfillment like we have never known. It is peace that passes all understand; and a joy that is not based on the things and whims of this world. Think for a moment. What is the greatest heirloom you could possibly give your children? Wealth, homes and lands? Or a deep rooted joy and peace that are never expended?
We have the blessing of almighty God upon us through His Son Jesus. Nothing, can be as priceless as this. Often fear will keep a person from showing this wonderful personality. But, when you realize the innumerous amount of people in dire need of love we would be shameful to withhold this prize.
Don’t allow the enemy any more of your head space! Kick him out by submitting fully to the God that created heaven and earth! He knows your every need and He cares for you. Allow His personality to reign over your life. You will not regret it.
