I Corinthians 10: 13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
With every temptation that you and I receive, God gives us a door that we may exit from the temptation! Temptation entertained turns into sin and sin matured ends in death.
How often do we remember that other door? Are we too focused on the thrill of the sin before us to remember? It pays to keep in mind that sin is fun and thrilling for a season but it will take you farther than you wanted to go and keep you there longer than you wanted to. How many times have we said we’ll get back to church only to remember that it has been six months or even ten years since we worshipped Him? Time passes too quickly.
In Acts 1: 8 the Bible says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” God gave us the Holy Ghost to empower us to not sin! Too often we only think of the precious third Person of the Tri-unity of God in the sense of speaking in other tongues, falling down under the power, running around the church or the Omnipotent power of God displayed.
I submit to you today that the power of God is made manifest that we might walk after Jesus! The Holy Ghost is given that we might be nice and under control not out of order in any circumstance. That we might be bold, effective witnesses for Christ. That are living might encourage another to follow Him as well because our words and deeds line up with His life.
I love the Holy Ghost. I love how He makes life easier by His sweet peace and comfort. I would that every man, woman, and child would come to know His tender, gentle leading and teaching. He was sent by Jesus Christ to fill us and bring everything Jesus said and did to our remembrance.
Yes, you can have power to not sin. But, only through the gift of God in the person of the Holy Ghost, He will give you and I the power to choose God’s way. Seek Him and listen to His voice by reading the Word of God.
